CWU’s Research Center for Translation Studies (RCTS) is to launch its website on Sep. 1, 2016. RCTS acknowledges the support of CWU’s Propaganda Department, Division of Scientific Research, Modern Education Technology Center, Department of Foreign Languages, and Mr. Shastri Ramachandaran, who is currently an editorial consultant of China International Publishing Group.
RCTS opens its website for the purpose of building its image, expanding channels for cooperation, and better serving the research and teaching work of CWU. The website will be a place for achievements display, a window for external and academic exchange, and a platform for translation practice and service.
The characteristics of the website are:
1. It is available in both the English and Chinese versions, with their contents largely corresponding to each other.
2. Translation is highlighted here, with everything closely related to the theme.
3. The “Links” connects to such resources as the Translators Association of China, the most authoritative accreditation tests for translators/interpreters as well as some popular websites for translation studies and language learning.
4. The main picture on the home page presents scenes of China Women’s University, which will alter in pace with the change of seasons.
5. The unit “Translation Appreciation” provides different versions for the same source language text (some of which may be done by students), for visitors to compare.
