CWU Graduate Won Honorable Mention at National Translation Contest


This month, the TenthOcean University of China—The World of English Cup” National Translation Contest came to a successful conclusion. The Contest includes translation from both English to Chinese and Chinese to English, with each arena setting up one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and a certain number of honorable mentions.

The list of prize winners, which came out after two months of strict evaluation and review by the judges, has been published on the website of The World of English and its WeChat Public Platform. Miss Chen Siying, an English major of the Department of Foreign Languages of China Women’s University (CWU), won an honorable mention42 in allin the English-Chinese translation arena of this event.



“The World of English Cup” Translation Contest is sponsored by The World of English Inc., a subsidiary of The Commercial Press, and jointly held by the Social Science Translation Committee of Translators Association of China, the National Translation Test and Appraisal Center, and Translators Association of Sichuan Province. As the co-organizer this year, Ocean University of China got the naming right of the Contest.



Miss Chen has been a Grade-2015 English major of CWU and assistant of the Research Center for Translation Studies (RCTS). The title of the source text of English-Chinese Translation this year is Poetry to Me. Under the guidance of Mrs. Qian Yaping and Mr. Ding Zhangang, Miss Chen stood out in this translation event.
