July 14-18, 2020
Theme: Safeguarding the Human Rights of Family Members from the Womb to the Tomb.
The human rights issues which confront the family today are more challenging than ever before. Thirty years after the Convention on the Rights of the Child, human rights of children are still regarded by many as an oxymoron, especially when children in detention or in alternative care are concerned. In many countries, full recognition of women’s human rights is an elusive goal. Human rights of spouses, parents, stepparents, grandparents, siblings and other family members are, too often, not recognized, sufficiently protected, or not safeguarded at all by legal systems. All persons are entitled to have their human rights promoted and protected in the variety of situations in which family members interact with one another, with the State and institutions.
This conference is intended to bring together researchers, academics, jurists, social workers, policy makers and other professionals from all over the world to share research, experiences and ideas on human rights which touch and concern us all as family members at all stages of life.
We invite presentations on all legal and policy issues related to human rights of family members, which may be encountered prior to conception and up to post- mortem property distribution.
Submission of Proposals: Abstracts of no more than 250 words, together with your full name, title or position, institution (if applicable), address, telephone, fax, and a short bio. must be submitted no later than January 13, 2020, to the Conference Convener, Hazel Thompson-Ahye, at: isflworldconference2020@gmail.com
For further information, you may contact the Convener at the address above.
