VP of Central Washington Uni Visits CWU
On October 27, Marilyn Levine, vice-president of Central Washington University, visited China Women’s University (CWU). CWU vice-president Liu Meng received the guest. Directors from School of Management andChina Women & Gender Library attended the reception.
Levine introduced her own 30 years’ experience studying China, as well as outlining the history of her university, and its situation in terms of teaching and scientific research. She also said that Central Washington University has set up extensive and in-depth exchange programs and cooperated with many higher institutes in China and middle schools in Macao. She said that she was working with Tsinghua University in the research of Chinese leaders’ oral history, and of their early learning experiences abroad.
Liu warmly welcomed the guests and introduced CWU’s teaching research achievements in women’s studies, social work, pre-school education, and marriage and family law. Liu also emphasized CWU’s special status in Chinese women's higher education, and its leading role and positive social influence.
The two sides also discussed their common concern for women’s development, and the subsequent academic cooperation and exchanges.
Central Washington University is located in the southeast of Seattle, WA. It offers more than 120 different subjects, with special attention on humanities. It is well-known for its achievements in its students’ services and activities.
Levine was a doctor in history at the University of Chicago. Her research fields were Modern Chinese History and the History of the Communist Party of China. In recent years, she was committed to constructing the Chinese Biographical Database, and using the database to study the parties and political groups of the Republic of China.
