An award ceremony at which China Women’s University (CWU) was formally added to China’s National Civilized Unit list was held in the main square of the college in Beijing on April 15.

Wu Qingbin, deputy head of the Publicity Department, deputy administer of the National Spiritual Civilization Development Steering Committee and director of the Civilization Office of the Working Committee of the Organs Directly under the CPC Central Committee conferred the awarding board and certificate to the university. Yang Shuwen, deputy secretary of the Party committee of All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Hou Fenglan, chairperson of the Labor Union of ACWF and other officials attended the event. Hosted by Chairperson of CWU University Council, Li Mingshun, the grand ceremony drew the participation of the university’s major departments and faculties.
 

Yang Shuwen extended warm congratulations to CWU on behalf of the Party committee of ACWF and sincerely thanked the National Spiritual Civilization Development Steering Committee for its long-term guidance and support. She expressed her hope that CWU would vigorously continue to explore, seek innovation and enrich activities in the development of spiritual civilization.

Wu Qingbin also conveyed heartfelt congratulations to CWU on behalf of the National Spiritual Civilization Development Steering Committee and spoke highly of the spiritual civilization achievements made by the university. He pointed out that CWU, under the leadership of the Party committee of ACWF, highlighted talent cultivation, innovation of knowledge and social work as important elements in the fostering of spiritual civilization and have gained valuable experience in promoting its working mechanisms, education in core socialist values as well as its campus culture. Improved ideological and ethical quality of teachers and students have laid a solid foundation for the “leapfrog” development of CWU.

Underlining that conferring the title of China’s National Civilized Unit marked a fresh starting point for CWU, Wu expressed his ardent anticipation for the university to make persistent efforts to carry forward its heritage and contribute more to social development and cultivation of female talent.

Li Mingshun showed gratitude to the Working Committee of the Organs Directly under the CPC Central Committee and ACWF for their guidance and endorsement. He said Wu’s attendance embodied how the Working Committee attached great importance to CWU’s spiritual civilization development and constituted an enormous encouragement to the faculties. He expressed his determination to fully engage in teaching and management-related work in order to achieve more effective results in the beefing up of spiritual civilization.

The award came as a result of CWU’s long-time hard work. The university was selected on the basis of more than 50 evaluation indicators and all departments and faculties participated in the preparatory work. CWU will stand tall on the brand new start and turn this honor into a driving force to make more achievements in spiritual civilization development and more contribution to training women's talent.
